On a Saturday morning in Saratoga, before the races begin, the track announcer is always heard to say, “Welcome to the – Spaaaaa.” When he says this you know it’s one hour to post time. Historically known for its hot springs and horses, Saratoga Race Track is the oldest thoroughbred race track in the country.

Nothing spells summer like a day at The Spa. Saratoga Racetrack has been a desirable destination for horse lovers since 1863. In the horse racing world, Saratoga is known as the “graveyard of champions” having seen the likes of Secretariat, Gallant Fox and Man o’ War experience their falls from grace going from perfect records to being bested by longshots. This summer holds the promise of track records being shattered and champions being crowned as the 150th meet takes place.

If you want to see some wire to wire action, start the day with a seaplane ride from New York City’s East River to Saratoga County Airport. Our amphibious Cessna Caravans can accommodate up to eight passengers and flight time is just one hour. Enjoy the races, eat some great food, and take in all the local entertainment before heading back to New York City. The schedule for stake races on Saturdays in August are as follows:

  • Saturday, August 4th The Whitney
  • Saturday, August 11th Fourstardave Handicap
  • Saturday, August 18th The Alabama
  • Saturday, August 25th The Travers

Our thanks to photographer Chelsea Durand for providing us with pictures from the racetrack. If you’re looking to make it to the home stretch, give us a call at 800-468-8639 and book your charter to Saratoga. It always pays to be the front runner!

Happy travels,
