A big welcome to the latest addition to our crew, Luca Solari. Luca is currently flying for our sister company, SeaBird Air, in The Bahamas. His experience is extensive, having flown seaplanes in Switzerland and Italy. For the past several years he has flown scheduled and private seaplane charter flights for Cinnamon Air in Sri Lanka. The scenery of Sri Lanka could not be more different than that of The Bahamas, but Luca is adjusting nicely and enjoying the varying shades of turquoise and blue waters throughout the islands. Luca was born on an island and has always had a symbiotic relationship to water. He states, “The sense of achievement and connection with the elements that water-flying allows is not possible in any other type of flying.”
When I asked him for his best flying experience ever, he told me he had too many to recount, “But crossing the Alps daily operating from Lugano, seeing the elephants in Sri Lanka, circling around the Stromboli volcano while it was erupting, providing countless sightseeing flights over Lake Como, landing on some crazy strips in Greenland, and now experiencing flights among the beautiful islands of the Exumas – is all fantastically interesting and seaplane flying is the best!” I believe his exuberance is shared by all our seaplane pilots.
Luca is married to his lovely wife, Natalia, and the father of three children (Sebastian, Cielo and Hanna Nour) His mother tongue is Italian, but he also speaks English, French and Spanish. Luca grew up in the southern area of Switzerland. His family is currently living in Figino on the shores of Lake Lugano, near the border between Switzerland and Italy. For this winter, he is living in Coral Harbour, on the outskirts of Nassau, and looking forward to a visit from his much missed family. Welcome aboard Luca!
